Third time around for this pattern. Am I a glutton for punishment?
Sometimes it’s supremely satisfying to sit down at the sewing machine for an hour or two and walk away with a finished project. This is a fun little project – it ain’t couture!
Lately, when I’ve looked through my wardrobe I’ve been bored with everything I own. There are a couple of things I like, but most of my clothes are either very simple and basic, or they don’t fit. The ‘don’t fit’ piece can eventually be remedied, but it’s faster to make something new. So for the next couple of months, I’m focusing on work wear or more polished weekend wear.
I originally posted this on a different blog so some of the info and references may appear odd but I don’t want to lose this info when that blog goes poof … so here is a little tutorial (mostly for me) on how to bind an edge on knit fabrics. BTW – this pattern has become a TNT.
A few weeks ago I spent time at a conference with a good friend. She pulled out her phone and showed me a couple of pictures of the eggs she had collected from her newly acquired chickens. It was serendipitous when about 2 days later Swoon Patterns sent out an email advertising their new apron …
There are a couple of things on my ‘I’m scared to sew’ list, and one is pants (aka trousers). Not sack-of-potatoes pull-up pants, but actual adult trousers with a waistband, zipper and shape. I’ve made 2 pairs of pants in the past, neither successfully. G called the last pair clown pants.
But alas, the ready to wear fast meant that I had to learn how to make pants, or suffer with the same pair of Ann Taylor black pants that have been worn to death over the last 6 years.
Recently I discovered The Monthly Stitch. It’s a collective of blogging sewists, and each month a challenge is posted. The April Challenge was to let Miss Bossy choose our next sewing project. Here’s a link to the post where I asked for Miss Bossy’s feedback. In case you didn’t read the first post, Miss Bossy is y’all.
